Manual Lymphatic Drainage is a specialized technique which stimulates and improves the functioning of the lymphatic and immune systems.

It utilizes specific, gentle, slow, rhythmic and relaxing movements to improve this vital system, whose role it is to maintain the fluid balance in the soft tissues, evacuating excess fluid and waste, including toxins, bacteria, dead cells, excess proteins, and hormones.

Due to the immense importance of the lymphatic system in maintaining health, this technique can be used to treat almost anything, including:

  • Headaches and/or migraines
  • Sinusitis
  • Injuries of all kinds
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Chronic and acute pain and illness
  • Lymphoedema
  • Pre and post surgery
  • Insomnia, stress, anxiety, lethargy

Manual Lymphatic Drainage was developed in France in the 1930s and is widely practiced across Europe in healthcare.

Our healthcare practitioner, Ruth, was taught this technique in Melbourne nearly 25 years ago and has been applying it ever since.

Ruth describes Manual Lymphatic Drainage as having a basis in medicine and science but also to be deeply relaxing, nurturing, and restorative – working on all levels, emotional, physical and energetic. Read more about Ruth Griffins here.
