Baical Skullcap

Studies show that Baical has broad-spectrum antiviral actions against viruses such as influenza virus through an inhibitory effect against neuraminidase enzyme activity in the virus. It has also been shown to be effective against respiratory syncytial virus (RSV).

Other active constituents cause hemagglutinin and neuraminidase inhibition (prevents viruses from being able to replicate).

It also prevents viral fusion with healthy cells, as well as inhibits the viral release from infected cells. It also increases apoptosis (cell death) of virus infected cells.

Japanese knotweed

Contains a constituent called emodin, which blocks the SARS (Sudden Acute Respiratory Syndrome – a form of coronavirus) spike protein, which is essential for the viral attachment to the host cell receptor angiotensin -converting enzyme 2, thereby blocking their interaction and preventing infection.

Astragalus

Contains active constituents of Saponins, flavonoids, and polysaccharides which assists in regulating immune function as well as being antiviral, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant.

Isatis

The antiviral activity of Isatis and its constituents has been evidenced pre-clinically against influenza A and B and SARS (Sudden Acute Respiratory Syndrome which is a type of corona virus) as well as other viral infections.

Kudzu

Studies have found that kudzu root has antiviral properties against a human respiratory syncytial virus that often is the cause of bronchitis and pneumonia.
